Experience

I gained my professional experience working in a Residential Addiction Treatment Center, an Outpatient Clinic for Addiction and Codependency Treatment, and a Mental Health Clinic. For 18 years, I have been working individually and in groups in the field of broadly understood mental health. I have 17 years of experience working in psychiatric and addiction treatment facilities. For several years now, I have also been working with couples.

Work Areas

I provide support in the area of broadly understood psychological suffering. I work with individuals struggling with neurosis, depression, eating disorders, those who have experienced traumatic events, and those in various forms of crisis. I help people entangled in addictive use of alcohol, other substances, or behaviors, as well as members of their families and those who grew up in families affected by addiction.

Therapy Approach

I am close to the psychodynamic understanding of the human being, and in my work I rely on mindfulness and empathy, especially in the area of the relationship between the patient and the therapist. I believe that many psychological symptoms originate from unconscious feelings and needs. Each of us represses them unconsciously by using defense mechanisms, which results in the need to release them through psychological symptoms. Psychodynamic psychotherapy makes it possible to reduce excessive defenses and to identify, name, and safely express those parts of the self that have not had the chance to be noticed.

Education

I completed a four-year Psychotherapy Training in the Psychodynamic approach at the Hanna Segal Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies and obtained the certificate of Addiction Therapy Specialist No. SP/0614/2011 from the Polish Federation of Therapeutic Communities in Gdańsk. Additionally, I have completed numerous training courses, including: Aggression Replacement Training (ART), Stop Violence – counteracting violence and undertaking crisis intervention, Techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Solution-Focused Approach in Helping Relationships, Motivational Interviewing – basic principles and methods along with skills training, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children and adolescents based on the Coping Cat program, Family Balance Coaching – training, the “FreD goes net” Early Intervention Program for Young Drug Users, and a seminar on mediation and conflict resolution. I regularly participate in individual and group supervision.
