Experience

For over 20 years, I have been professionally helping people face their daily lives and challenges. I started my work at the Monar Association, where I supported individuals struggling with addiction. For 14 years, I worked as a caregiver, team leader, and creator of original programs at the Juvenile Detention Center in Białystok. Over the years, I have observed people from various backgrounds who often experienced extreme situations. These experiences have enriched my psychotherapeutic skills. Thanks to them, I can share a sense of perspective with my clients and present very different viewpoints on the situations they find themselves in. Since 2018, I have been running a private therapeutic practice (both in-office and online).

Therapy Approach

In my work, I use a humanistic-experiential approach. I also draw from the achievements and traditions of other therapeutic schools. I work based on Carl Rogers’ triad, so as a therapist, I strive to be authentic, accepting, and empathetic. I try not to judge anyone. I accept clients as they are — I believe that everyone is the expert in their own life. As a therapist, I can only be a companion on the journey of discovering one’s own needs, desires, emotions, and also limitations. In further steps, during therapy sessions, together with clients, we focus on self-acceptance and learning to live by one’s own rules. This, in turn, forms the foundation for building healthy relationships with family, loved ones, and the wider environment. Working with people struggling with addiction (regardless of the type of addiction) means, for me, above all, a holistic approach to the person — seeking the causes rather than focusing only on the symptoms that hinder everyday functioning. I regularly submit my work to supervision — both individual and group (currently under the guidance of supervisors Krzysztof Parusiński and Piotr Fijewski).

Education

I completed a four-year psychotherapy training program at the Psychotherapy School at the Center for Psychological Assistance and Education Intra in Warsaw. Since 2011, I have been a certified addiction therapy specialist. I am a graduate of the Specialized Training in the field of therapy and rehabilitation of drug addiction conducted by the Health Psychology Institute of the Polish Psychological Association. I am also an educator, a certified teacher, and a sociologist. (I earned my master’s degree at the Institute of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw.)

Additional information

I am open and curious about people and the world. In both life and work, I follow the principle that nothing is black and white. During therapy, together with my clients, we explore the various shades of gray — everything that lies between categorical judgments, motivations, and attitudes. I often use examples from broadly understood pop culture to help with this. Privately, I am a proud father, a collector of music and travel memories, as well as a fan of analog photography.
