Work Areas

CRISIS * situational – when you have found yourself in a sudden, overwhelming situation, in which the old coping mechanisms you have used so far have failed, and you haven’t been able to find new effective ones on your own. * relational – when your paths with your partner are diverging, even though it’s the last thing you would want – together we will look at how to address this. * developmental – when you feel, in a way, that your life has become “too tight” and you feel the need for change, even if you are satisfied with what you have achieved so far. Together we will search for new areas for further development and/or methods that will allow you to joyfully spread your proverbial wings. * existential – when you are at a moment of reflecting on your life so far or a particularly important part of it, and you are encountering difficult emotions connected to this reflection, and at the same time you need “new settings.” FAMILY AFFECTED BY ADDICTION I will help you deal with all the difficult emotions that inevitably accompany you when you are or have been in a close relationship with a person struggling with addiction, as well as in cleansing and the healing process of wounds, for example when you were a child of a person suffering from addiction. PERSONALITY DIFFICULTIES I will help in identifying and then changing those elements of your self-structure that significantly hinder or even prevent you from achieving your intended goals, block access to your dreams, building happy relationships or achieving basic inner peace. We will also work on building a positive self-image and self-esteem, and on all the elements that turn out to be necessary for building and experiencing a good, fulfilled life. CHRONIC ILLNESS AND GRIEF This is a situation in which a specific kind of loneliness is felt particularly acutely. I will try to ease this overwhelming feeling not only through my kind presence but also through jointly searching for the ways of coping with the chronic stress of living with a chronic illness and dealing with the pain of loss, and building your world anew after it. MOBBING AND BURNOUT Together we will reflect on how, in an individualized way, you can once again find yourself in your work, which for some reason, instead of bringing joy and fulfillment, has started to bring suffering. ANXIETY That is – how to stop fearing fear and treat it as important information that your well-being is undeniably demanding to be heard. :)

Therapy Approach

The therapeutic process is, for me, a shared journey into the unknown land that is the world of the Other Person – always unique, because besides certain common elements shared by all people, each of us is absolutely unrepeatable. Only the discovery – in a climate of self-acceptance – of this uniqueness, and then finding ways to express it well in the world, is an indispensable condition of mental health and well-being. I see my role as a psychotherapist in this process as something akin at first to a mountain guide (because when you come to me, it is, nomen omen, precisely because you feel that life has become too much of an uphill climb for you :)), or a kind of "general travel guide", one who reduces the fear associated with setting out into the unknown (and such an unknown land is exactly what you are to yourself on a deeper level when you experience that "you try so hard" for your life to be successful and happy, and instead you encounter too many difficulties, failures, and a whole *sea* of suffering. And you stop understanding why this is the case, and you have no idea what to do to finally make it better, for the painful mental suffering to stop tormenting you. So at the beginning, I let you know that you are no longer alone with all of this, and then, through my knowledge and experience, I show you the way and provide basic guidance on how to move. But as we continue along the path together, the journey becomes more and more of a dialogue – an exchange of impressions and reflections between two travelers. At times, it will resemble something like a brainstorming session at a construction site, on which we will eventually find ourselves when you decide, after familiarizing yourself with the basic elements of your inner planet, to start building your internal home. We will naturally talk about the elements it will be made of, but it is *you* who chooses them, *you* create the building plan – I’m just the consultant :) There will also be an element of a "spiritual gym" :) and I will temporarily take on the role of a "trainer" – we will practice changes – new behaviors in old conditions – and observe what emotions appear during this. Emotions, unfortunately, don’t change “on command.” It takes a certain number of repetitions for one set of emotions to replace another. Our shared work-journey will end at the moment when *you* decide that you are already strong and confident enough, and after walking this path, that you can now continue to travel, design, and build your life on your own :)

Education

I acquired my psychotherapeutic knowledge through a 4-year Postgraduate Course for Psychotherapists organized by the Department of Psychotherapy at the Jagiellonian University Medical College. For many years, I have been working under regular supervision, both individual and group.
